Angle Bars and Other Bars: What Can You Use?

September 7, 2022

Angle bars aren’t the only bars you can use out there in construction! There’s plenty more to be familiar with. These bars are called construction bars, and they have their own different uses. Indeed, it’s very important to know and recognize them and their uses so you can utilize them properly in your projects. Let’s explore these types of bars and their usage in this article.

Angle bars

Of course, first up is the angle bar. We’ve covered angle bars and their types before, so to quickly recap, angle bars are essentially metal bars in the form of a right angle. Highly versatile, they provide a lot of stability and strength for structures. Engineers often use them as support beams to strengthen the load-bearing capabilities of a platform. You can also use angle bars to strengthen edges and corners in buildings. Angle bars find their use as well in furniture, shelves, vehicles, as well as factory equipment.

Channel bar

Channel bars, also called C-section steel, have a squared off C-shape. Engineers use these for construction and machinery. They’re very useful for wall building and they usually run from the bottom of the wall to the top. Also, you can also use them as frames, rafters, and in metal structures like warehouses and trailers. Vehicle manufacturing and mechanical equipment are also good uses for these. As they’re made out of steel, they’re very durable and can help strengthen and enhance the load-bearing capabilities of a structure.

Square bar

You can find square bars often in construction. Square bars are highly durable and support heavy-duty usage. Moreover, square bars find their use in brackets, furniture, gates, trailers, railings, and even artwork. You can also use square bars for manufacturing and repairs. Other industries use them in agriculture, power generation, machinery, etc. There’s always a use for them.

Rebar

Rebars are also called iron bars and deformed bars. In a previous article, we talked about the different types of deformed bars. They’re durable and strong and engineers often use them to reinforce concrete in construction. They also have high tensile strength and help the structure fight against wear and tear. As such, they provide more longevity to your project when used in concrete.

T-bar

T-bars are construction bars and they’re in the shape of the letter T. They’re great for structural and load-bearing applications as they’re very strong. T-bars can bear weight very effectively and they’re often used to support the panels in dropped ceilings. They can reinforce wood, concrete, and metal. They require less material in comparison to tubes. T-bars are good to use in constructing bridges, overpasses, buildings, and even ships.

The key-takeaway

All of these construction bars have their own respective uses and qualities. Play to their strengths and they’ll help ensure that your project stays strong, durable, and long-lasting.
